I had a few old storm windows that didn't fit my house that I wired together at the top, on each side to make a teepee. I put them upside down, with the screens on the top, so the windows can be opened during the day, and closed at night. I set it in one of the raised beds, and made a
groove in the soil on each side to mark the area for the tomatoes. Removed it, then planted a few tomato plants, watered them, covered them with plastic juice bottles with bottoms cut off, (just to be sure they don't get cold), then put the window teepee over the plants, in the grooves.
We have alot of hungry rabbits, so I tied a recycled screen to each open end to keep them out. They can eat the clover that I planted instead of grass. Since I don't mow, and grass takes too much water (on 1/2 acre), I planted clover instead. I only had to water it in the beginning, to get it started during dry spells last year. The yard looks so pretty when it blooms, and never has to be mowed!
